Overview
Stevens Cresto Engineers played a key role in the development of two FedEx facilities—FedEx Ground and FedEx Freight—within the rapidly expanding industrial region of East Otay Mesa. Positioned strategically near the U.S.-Mexico border, both sites leverage their location to enhance cross-border logistics and distribution efficiency.
The FedEx Freight terminal strengthens the company’s less-than-truckload (LTL) services for the San Diego and Tijuana regions. As part of a growing trend of logistics firms capitalizing on border proximity, the project comprises a 152,000-square-foot dock building, a 13,000-square-foot office component, a 22,000-square-foot vehicle maintenance facility, and a 3,000-square-foot fuel bay canopy, and was expanded to 40 docks, up from its original 17.
Stevens Cresto Engineers provided comprehensive planning, engineering, and land surveying services for the project. Their scope included securing discretionary approvals, developing final engineering plans, and overseeing construction surveying to ensure technical precision and timely project completion.
