Overview

Stevens Cresto Engineers provides engineering services for public improvements serving ongoing development in the City of San Marcos. These services facilitate growth throughout the City using solid sustainable engineering design achieving the goals of the City and Water District. The Firm’s engineering experience has yielded miles of public roadway and infrastructure improvements constructed within the core of the City, and includes not only public street right-of-way but also innovative stormwater compliance solutions. Stevens Cresto continues to achieve expedited permitting, while producing agency respected, comprehensive, and multi-disciplined engineering documents.

Key to the successful design and construction of public improvements continues to be Stevens Cresto’s close collaboration with Agency staff. Stevens Cresto has completed City roadway rehabilitation and widening projects for Twin Oaks Valley Road, Barham Drive, Industrial Street, Carmel Street, as well as various City intersection projects. New public roadways and associated utility infrastructure include North City Drive, June Way and Campus Way. Three roadway intersections were designed as roundabouts to provide continuous traffic flow and improved vehicular circulation efficiency. The roundabouts are among the first in the City of San Marcos.

Highlights of completed public improvements include the development of some of the City’s first Low Impact Development (LID) storm water treatment systems within the public right-of-way. An innovative design was pioneered in-house, and developed in collaboration with the City of San Marcos and DeepRoot, to use biofiltration to provide not only water quality mitigation, but also hydromodification and peak storm attenuation. The system is particularly unique in its incorporation of structural components to minimize the footprint within the right-of-way. The Firm’s design was incorporated into medians within center draining streets, adjacent to the sidewalk in crowned streets, and within the center of two of the roundabouts. Complementing the storm water treatment systems are significant public conveyance systems, including a new 60” storm drain within one of the City’s main arterial roadways. The combination of these systems helps improve the capacity and conveyance capabilities of an existing backbone system that discharges to San Marcos Creek.
